Owner & Trainer

Maegan Rose, BComm., CTDI, CPDT-KA, PCT-A

Member of the Alberta Force Free Alliance

Member of the Pet Professional Guild

Member of the Agility Association of Canada

Member of the Pet Professional Accreditation Board

Fear Free Daycare Certified

Certified Companion Paws Therapy Dog Adjudicator

Maegan is the owner of Sherwood Barks and a professional dog trainer with a lifelong passion for educating both dogs and the people who care for them. In March 2020, she made the deliberate decision to leave a successful 10-year career in finance to pursue her calling full time and build a business centered on thoughtful, ethical dog training.

Her foundation in dog training began early through Canine 4-H, where she competed in conformation and obedience as a junior handler. That early experience shaped her technical skill set and reinforced her interest in clear communication, structure, and relationship-based training.

Today, Maegan competes nationally in agility and remains highly engaged in the dog sport community. While her own dogs hold many levels of trick titles, her training philosophy extends beyond performance. She places strong emphasis on the emotional, physical, and environmental welfare of each dog, ensuring training plans are both effective and humane.

Maegan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and maintains multiple professional credentials, including Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Professional Canine Trainer – Accredited, Therapy Dog Adjudicator, and Certified Trick Dog Instructor. She specializes in teaching foundational agility skills and providing one-on-one behavioral training tailored to each dog and household.

Maegan shares her life with three dogs: Lexi, a Border Collie; George, a Spaniel mix; and Summit, a Labrador Retriever.

Head instructor

Amanda Chisholm, DBTM-KA, CPDT-KA

Amanda’s journey into dog training began the moment she adopted her first dog and discovered a lifelong connection that shaped both her personal and professional path. Wanting to give back, she became a foster for a local rescue, opening her home to dogs and cats in need. This hands-on experience sparked a deeper interest in canine behavior and led her to complete the Dog Behaviour and Training Methodology certification through the Edmonton Humane Society.

Amanda went on to work full time with dogs in daycare environments, where she continued to expand her skills by shadowing group training classes and learning from experienced professionals. Her dedication to ongoing education and practical experience laid the foundation for her role as a professional trainer.

In 2022, Amanda adopted her miniature Australian Shepherd and earned her Certified Professional Dog Trainer credential. She also holds additional certifications in Dog Behaviour & Training Methodology and Pet First Aid. At Sherwood Barks, Amanda leads the majority of group classes and is especially known for her enthusiasm, approachability, and strong connection with puppies—often joking that a few of her puppy students try to go home with her at the end of the day.

Outside of class, Amanda shares her life with two dogs. Sunny, her Miniature Australian Shepherd, proudly shows off an impressive repertoire of tricks, while Sprout, her Chihuahua mix, can usually be found tucked close, doing his best to stay warm.

Apprentice instructor

Sarah Durocher

After relocating to Alberta in 2024, Sarah made a purposeful career transition from a decade in digital advertising to pursue work that aligned with her lifelong love of dogs. Through raising her now four-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix, Zap, she developed a strong appreciation for training and enrichment as creative, engaging, and mentally stimulating experiences for dogs.

That growing interest led Sarah to study canine behaviour and training more deeply, with a focus on helping each dog build confidence and unlock their individual strengths. Her approach is rooted in curiosity, patience, and a genuine enjoyment of the learning process for both dogs and their people.

Sarah joined the Sherwood Barks daycare team in January 2025 and completed the PCT-A Prep Course before stepping into her role as an Apprentice Trainer in October 2025. She is currently working toward her Professional Dog Trainer accreditation and is committed to developing relationship-based skills and compassionate training practices that support dogs as individuals to thrive while strengthening the human–canine bond.

Agility instructor

Airan Carpendale, BSc

Airan discovered his passion for agility at a young age, beginning his competitive career as a junior handler at just 15 years old. Since then, he has built an impressive agility résumé, including earning a spot on Team Canada and representing the country internationally in France in 2024.

Over the past decade, Airan has continued to refine his skills and deepen his knowledge by attending world-class agility seminars and staying current with evolving methods for developing strong, effective dog–handler teams. Alongside his work in agility, he balances a full-time career as a nurse, bringing focus, discipline, and adaptability into his teaching approach.

As an Agility Instructor, Airan is most passionate about helping handlers strengthen their connection with their dogs, fostering an environment where learning is enjoyable, confidence grows, and success is shared. His classes emphasize teamwork, clarity, and having fun while building technical skills.

Outside of the training field, Airan shares his life with three dogs: two Border Collies—Cayley, and Dash—and a small doodle mix, Jigs.

Professional Dog Groomer

Jamie Green

Jamie Green is a skilled and passionate dog groomer with seven years of experience in the industry. She began her career as a dog bather at a well-known Edmonton salon and took a unique approach to her training by apprenticing under four Master Groom Winners, rather than following a traditional schooling path. Three years ago, she transitioned fully into grooming, developing a specialty in the detailed care of double-coated breeds.

Affectionately known by her clients as the “Corgi Master,” Jamie is both creative and competitive, currently advancing her skills under a renowned show groomer and handler. She has experience grooming dogs of all breeds, combining technical expertise with artistry and a commitment to each dog’s comfort and well-being.

At home, Jamie shares her life with two dogs: a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and a Husky mix.

Professional Dog Groomer

Anabel Rosales

Anabel Rosales is an experienced and compassionate dog groomer with eight years of hands-on experience in the industry. Through dedication and years of practical work, she has refined her craft through patience, consistency, and a genuine love for animals.

Anabel brings a strong understanding of coat care, breed-specific grooming, and calm handling techniques that help both pets and their owners feel comfortable and confident.

She specializes in grooming doodles, poodles, and a wide variety of small, medium, and large breeds. From routine maintenance to full grooming transformations, Anabel takes pride in delivering results that are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully styled to suit each dog.

At home, Anabel shares her life with her 8-year-old Pomsky (Pomeranian X Husky), who continues to inspire her gentle, dog-first approach. Her work is rooted in trust, compassion, and the belief that every dog deserves individualized care and to look and feel their best.
