Maegan initially started attending Sherwood Barks as a student in 2016; finding a passion for dog training. Maegan started spending more and more of her time at Sherwood Barks, volunteering, and then teaching group classes. In February 2020, she took the leap and left her 10 year career in finance to become the business owner of Sherwood Barks.
Maegan trained her first dog at the age of 8, competing in Conformation and Obedience trials as a junior handler. The training methods used at that time were 'alpha' with the use of choke chains and prong collars. In keeping with today's methods of training, Maegan currently uses a positive reinforcement approach. Today, Maegan participates in many dog sports including Agility, is a founding member of Ruff Go's Flyball club, and is Trick Titled with Lexi and George. She is also a Certified Trick Dog Instructor.
Maegan has three dogs:
George, a 1 year old Cavapoo
Lexi, a 5 year old Border Collie
Eli, an 11 year old German Shepherd Mix

After starting agility classes in 2017 with her brother's shepherd, Aadra found a passion for working with dogs. She loves the challenges that each dog brings, since none are the same and they all have something different to teach you. With her shepherd being quite reactive, it has taught her a lot about working with your dog’s strengths and advocating for them.
After getting her second dog, she began to shadow puppy classes and is now a full time instructor with Sherwood Barks! Aadra has thousands of hours of experience working with puppies in group classes and private sessions and is waiting to take her examination to become a certified professional dog trainer!
Aadra currently has both of her dogs in multiple dog sports such as agility, disc and flyball. Aadra has a BSc degree in mathematical sciences, and is working towards her Bachelor of Education Degree.
Aadra has two dogs;
Morten, a 4 year old GSD/King Shepherd
Nora, a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler.
Sharlie has 15+ years experience grooming dogs, she is a wonderful addition to our team:
Grooming dogs has always been one of her passions. Sharlie grew up in the Dog Show world with her sister and mom, who was a Professional Dog Handler and breeder of Portuguese Water Dogs. She groomed her very first dog when she was 8 years old, a Portuguese Water Dog of course!
As a young person, Sharlie began working with different Professional Dog Handlers and was able to gain knowledge in grooming many different breeds of dogs. She even spent a few years with World Champion Groomer, Shaunna Bernardin!
After leaving the Dog Show world, she worked and managed Pats Pet Care in Camrose for 7 years.
Currently her family has two amazing pups of our own, Major a Portuguese Water Dog and Thunder, a Border Collie cross.
Dana has had a passion and love for dogs her entire life and has been working with dogs for many years. Six years ago, while looking for a part time job, she landed at Sherwood Barks. We quickly realized how special Dana is; Her love of all dogs is evident, even on the craziest of daycare days!
Dana will find the good in all dogs and works hard to ensure every dog receives the best care and experience in daycare. Dana has two dogs of her own,
Smash, a 6 year old Frenchton (French Bulldog/Boston Terrier) and;
Buttons, a 3 year old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie)
Fern grew up on a farm around all kinds of animals, but loved the family dogs that they always had, mostly Australian Shepherds, Border Collies and Blue heelers (basically any kind of working cattle dog). In 2015 she helped volunteer for a dog rescue, helping foster puppies. Always having a busy schedule, she was never able to have the time to get her own dog. However, when COVID happened, she saw the perfect opportunity and Annie came along! She and Annie started doing training at Sherwood Barks in the spring of 2020.
Fern Fell in love with training and took Course Level 1, 2 and 3 as well as Tricks & Games and more! She began falling more and more in love with training and being around Sherwood Barks. In October 2020 she began volunteering in puppy classes and loved being a part of the Sherwood Barks team so much that she started working part time in the daycare in March 2021! She loves getting to know your dogs through training and daycare.
She has been obsessed with learning about canine behavior, positive reinforcement and science based training methods. It has been an amazing experience and she is forever grateful that she decided to start training Annie at Sherwood Barks. If you come to daycare you might see her own pup strutting about.
Annie is a 1 year old Keeshond, Great Pyrenees X.
Sydney grew up as a dog lover and rescued Bodhi in 2020. She began puppy classes and absolutely fell in love with training and dogs, thinking this was her absolute dream job. In the fall of 2021, a position opened up and she jumped on the opportunity, leaving her office job to work with dogs!
Sydney currently works part time in the dog daycare while attending school.
Sydney has 1 dog, Bodhi, a 1 year old GSD X
Ever since she was a baby, Gaby grew up around animals, specifically horses and dogs! Since she was little she had a deep admiration and love for dogs, their behaviors and individual characters. She was always unsure about what she wanted to do in school, but it was always going to be something animal related. Gaby is always interested in meeting every dog and hearing their story! Her interest in learning about dog training and behaviors peaked when her family adopted a rescue dog named Jackie, from Texas! Jackie knew nothing so she had to train her the basics. Her family recently adopted a puppy who also knew nothing about living with a family or being a dog. When she saw the opportunity to work with and around dogs at Sherwood Barks she was very excited. She started working at Sherwood Barks in December 2021.
Gaby has two dogs:
Jackie, a Jack Russel x Chinese rescue from Texas, 3 years old
Pippin, a Chinese Crested rescue, 10 months old
Amanda has been an animal lover her whole life. She had a menagerie of small animals growing up, from cats and hamsters, to snakes and rabbits. Her fondest memories though, are of her summers spent on her grandparent’s farm. While on the farm, Amanda spent her days trying to ride cows, collecting orphaned animals from the hay fields, turning barn cats into house cats and teaching the dogs how to dance.
When Amanda adopted her first dog, a Rottweiler puppy, she knew she’d found her soul mate and would need dogs in her life forever. After his passing, she became a foster home for dogs for a local rescue until eventually “foster failing” and Old English Sheepdog. While she does not currently have a canine companion in her life, the strays seem to be drawn to her and much to the delight of her two children, she is always happy to scoop them up and keep them safe until reunited with their families.
Amanda is currently working to complete her Dog Behavior and Training Methodology Certification through the Edmonton Humane Society, with the goal of becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in the near future.
Amanda is currently owned by three rescue cats; Gilly, a 9 year old Tortie; Mable, a 6 year old grey manx; and Noodle, a 4 year old calico with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (pictured).
We also want to extend a huge thank you to all of the dedicated dog owners who support Sherwood Barks by volunteering their time every night and on the weekends to help our classes run smoothly. We wouldn't be here without you!
