Maegan’s innate passion for teaching humans and their dog’s encouraged her to leave a 10 year corporate finance career to become the business owner of Sherwood Barks in March, 2020.
From an early age, Maegan knew she had a passion for training dogs and this was evident through her Canine 4-H competitions in conformation and obedience trials as a junior handler.
Today, Maegan competes at the national level in Agility, and is also a very active member of the dog sport community participating and training in Flyball and Disc. While her dog’s have high level trick titles, she is also an advocate of focusing on the emotional, physical, and evironmental welfare of dog’s under our care. She has her Bachelor of Commerce Degree, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, and is a Certified Trick Dog Instructor.
Maegan has three dogs; Lexi, a Border Collie, George, a Spaniel Mix, and Summit, a black Lab.
After starting agility classes in 2017 with her shepherd, Aadra found a passion for working with dogs and their people. She loves the challenges that each dog brings, as none are the same and they all have something different to teach you. With her shepherd being quite reactive, it has taught her a lot about working with your dog’s strengths and advocating for a lifestyle that fits the dog you have.
After getting her second dog, she began to shadow puppy classes, work in our dog daycare, and grew into our head instructor with Sherwood Barks! Aadra has thousands of hours of experience working with puppies in group classes and private sessions.
Aadra and her dogs participate in many dog sports such as agility, disc and mantrailing. Aadra has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematical sciences, and her Bachelor of Education degree in secondary education, and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer.
Aadra has two dogs;
Morten, a German Shepherd
Nora, an Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler.
When Amanda adopted her first dog, she knew she had found her soulmate and would need dogs in her life forever. She then became a foster for a local rescue, taking in dogs and cats in need. This inspired her to take the Dog Behavior and Training Methodology certification through the Edmonton Humane Society. She then started working with dogs full-time in dog daycares, and continued her journey of learning about dogs by shadowing group classes.
In 2022, Amanda adopted a miniature Australian Shepherd and became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She has extra certifications in Dog Behaviour & Training Methodology as well as pet first aid. She teaches the majority of Sherwood Barks group classes and is often found slipping a couple of her puppy class students into her pockets to take home with her at the end of the day.
Amanda’s mini aussie, Sunny has a magnificent list of tricks up her sleeve, while her Chihuahua mix, Sprout is often up one of our sleeve’s trying to keep himself warm.
L has been working with dogs professionally since 2015. Starting in dog daycares as an attendant, they quickly managed multiple daycares in Edmonton and Calgary. Daycare kickstarted their passion for learning about dog behavior, body language and training and they have been studying the most up-to-date science in dog training since 2019 and became an Accredited Dog Trainer through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants in 2025.
In addition to working for Sherwood barks, L also runs a dog walking business, mainly focusing on teaching humans the power of decompression walks, and taking small groups of social dogs to off leash parks. L is extremely passionate about teaching dogs and their humans to learn through positive reinforcement and agency.
L is an Apprentice Trainer and Daycare Manager at Sherwood Barks. L has two dogs, Persephone (Sephy) an “alberta special” pittie mix, and Ollie an extra tiny miniature dachshund.
Airan found a love for Agility when he started competing as a junior handler at the age of 15. Since then, he’s accomplished many amazing feats including earning a spot on Team Canada and competing in France in 2024.
Airan has spent the past decade growing his agility knowledge by attending world class seminars, and stays up to date on the newest ways to skill build with dog-handler teams all while being a full time nurse!
His favorite part about being an Agility Instructor is seeing the bond between dog and handler, having fun, and seeing his students succeed!
Airan has four dogs; three Border Collies, Cayley, Olympus & Dash and a small sized doodle mix, Jigs.
