Puppy Class Instructor

Aadra Vanderbleek, BSc.

After starting agility classes in 2017 with her brother's shepherd, Aadra found a passion for working with dogs. She loves the challenges that each dog brings, since none are the same and they all have something different to teach you. With her shepherd being quite reactive, it has taught her a lot about working with your dog’s strengths and advocating for them.

After getting her second dog, she began to shadow puppy classes and is now a full time instructor with Sherwood Barks! Aadra has thousands of hours of experience working with puppies in group classes and private sessions and is waiting to take her examination to become a certified professional dog trainer!

Aadra currently has both of her dogs in multiple dog sports such as agility, disc and flyball.  Aadra has a BSc degree in mathematical sciences, and is working towards her Bachelor of Education Degree.

Aadra has two dogs;

Morten, a 4 year old GSD/King Shepherd

Nora, a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler.

Puppy Class Instructor

Sadie Maciocha

Sadie has always had a passion for working with animals but specifically dogs. She has been working with them for the past 7 years! She has worked in multiple fields of animal care from veterinary assisting to grooming but always with the ultimate goal of training. Her work at the Edmonton Humane Society since 2019 has shown her how much potential every pup has, regardless of their background!

Sadie is currently in pursuit of becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Her favorite thing in terms of training is tricks and sports, though she is new to it, she loves seeing dogs reach new levels of brilliance and confidence! Sadie is so excited to be a part of the Sherwood barks team, to continue to learn and further her education here!

Sadie has one dog;

Bo, a 5 year old Border collie

Professional Dog Groomer

Sharlie Adams

Sharlie has 15+ years experience grooming dogs, she is a wonderful addition to our team:

Grooming dogs has always been one of her passions. Sharlie grew up in the Dog Show world with her sister and mom, who was a Professional Dog Handler and breeder of Portuguese Water Dogs. She groomed her very first dog when she was 8 years old, a Portuguese Water Dog of course!

As a young person, Sharlie began working with different Professional Dog Handlers and was able to gain knowledge in grooming many different breeds of dogs. She even spent a few years with World Champion Groomer, Shaunna Bernardin!

After leaving the Dog Show world, she worked and managed Pats Pet Care in Camrose for 7 years.

Currently her family has two amazing pups of our own, Major a Portuguese Water Dog and Thunder, a Border Collie cross.

Dog daycare attendant

Sydney Fiddes

Sydney grew up as a dog lover and rescued Bodhi in 2020. She began puppy classes and absolutely fell in love with training and dogs, thinking this was her absolute dream job. In the fall of 2021, a position opened up and she jumped on the opportunity, leaving her office job to work with dogs!

Sydney currently works part time in the dog daycare while attending school.

Sydney has 1 dog, Bodhi, a 1 year old GSD X

Dog daycare attendant

Gaby Turek

 Ever since she was a baby, Gaby grew up around animals, specifically horses and dogs! Since she was little she had a deep admiration and love for dogs, their behaviors and individual characters. She was always unsure about what she wanted to do in school, but it was always going to be something animal related. Gaby is always interested in meeting every dog and hearing their story! Her interest in learning about dog training and behaviors peaked when her family adopted a rescue dog named Jackie, from Texas! Jackie knew nothing so she had to train her the basics. Her family recently adopted a puppy who also knew nothing about living with a family or being a dog. When she saw the opportunity to work with and around dogs at Sherwood Barks she was very excited. She started working at Sherwood Barks in December 2021.

Gaby has two dogs:

Jackie, a Jack Russel x Chinese rescue from Texas, 3 years old

Pippin, a Chinese Crested rescue, 10 months old

Dog daycare attendant

Amanda Chisholm

 Amanda has been an animal lover her whole life. She had a menagerie of small animals growing up, from cats and hamsters, to snakes and rabbits. Her fondest memories though, are of her summers spent on her grandparent’s farm. While on the farm, Amanda spent her days trying to ride cows, collecting orphaned animals from the hay fields, turning barn cats into house cats and teaching the dogs how to dance.

When Amanda adopted her first dog, a Rottweiler puppy, she knew she’d found her soul mate and would need dogs in her life forever. After his passing, she became a foster home for dogs for a local rescue until eventually “foster failing” and Old English Sheepdog. While she does not currently have a canine companion in her life, the strays seem to be drawn to her and much to the delight of her two children, she is always happy to scoop them up and keep them safe until reunited with their families.

Amanda is currently working to complete her Dog Behavior and Training Methodology Certification through the Edmonton Humane Society, with the goal of becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in the near future.

Amanda is currently owned by three rescue cats; Gilly, a 9 year old Tortie; Mable, a 6 year old grey manx; and Noodle, a 4 year old calico with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (pictured).

Dog daycare attendant

Aja Arnold

Aja grew up around horses in the early years of her life and a family dog. In her mid-teenage years Aja got her first dog of her own (Loki), shortly after getting her first job in the canine industry. Roughly a year following that she unexpectedly added another dog into her home with open arms (Paisley).

She has become committed to learning as much as possible about everything from animal nutrition to canine behavior and science based positive reinforcement training. Aja is currently enrolled in the fundamentals of dog training and behavior course through Victoria Stilwell Academy and upon completion will be enrolling in the dog trainer course, while working part time in the dog daycare.

Aja has two dogs: Loki, Husky x American Staffordshire terrier, 4 years (pictured) and;

Paisley, Golden retriever x border collie, 4 years
